In this series of blog posts, I will be sharing notes on data science-related topics howbeit in no particular order. It will be particularly useful for beginners in this field, people with zero knowledge, and people who need to understand concepts simply and use the knowledge to solve practical problems.

What is data science?

This is a scientific field that comprises many different fields. Statistics, Mathematics, Computer science, Mass Communication, Engineering, and the list can go on and on.

Many people refer to it as an interdisciplinary field. This means that there is no barrier to entry. You can easily join in from any field.

What do I need to consider before deciding to join?

Do I like to tackle difficult problems?

Do I like to think deeply about the underlying meaning of what lies on the surface?

If my answer to both of these questions is affirmative, then congratulations you will find it rewarding to join this field. If not, then you will find it a bit intimidating and might need to reconsider.

What do I need to do next?

Now you can start using free resources to get a glimpse of what this field is all about. You could even start with some introductory courses. Here i have made a list of sites you can start with. I will use general and non-specific sites where you only need to use the right search keywords to find what you need. These sites are 100% free to use and can help to give you a road map to where you want to go with data science.

So far, we have talked about what this field is all about and what type of curiosity we need to have to enjoy working in this field. We have also talked about the free sites we could use to get started.
